What is Osteopathic Medicine?

Osteopathic medicine is a distinct practice and philosophy within the broader medical establishment, focused on encouraging whole-body health while retaining access to the benefits of modern medicine including diagnostic technologies, drugs, and surgery.  Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.s) are board-certified professionals capable of diagnosis and prescription (like any MD) and are fully licensed in each state to practice medicine as physicians.

Osteopathic medicine helps optimize the patient's daily, optimal functionality by examining mechanics, posture, nutrition, medicines, and emotional wellness. A special form of medicine, called Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (O.M.M.) utilizes hands-on-diagnosis of the musculoskeletal system.  This structural examination informs precise and gentle manual manipulation for each patient. Unique consideration is given to each patient's medical, surgical, and trauma history.

While utilizing current standards of care in medicine, our emphasis is on the entire person, whilst enhancing efficiency, increasing functionality, decreasing pain, and elevating athletic endeavors to maximal performance with streamlined effort.

“Of the hundreds of doctors one meets along the journey to becoming a physician, Dr. Constanzo is one who has stood out at every step of the way. She is a natural healer, but moreso, she does it in an evidence-based way…” — Dr. Jonathan Terry, DO, ABIHM, IFMCP

"Jasmine demonstrates this principle as well as any practitioner I’ve ever met--not only does she provide world class knowledge and treatment, she does so with the utmost of care, compassion, and concern for her patients.…" —Jason Kapnick, Co-Founder of Catalyst SPORT

"Dr. Jasmine started taking care of me 3 years ago, and I am so much better for it. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable in how the nervous system works together with the rest of the body, but I feel very confident in saying that she is the most caring physician and human I have ever known.…" —Amanda Lasser, Senior UX/Visual Designer

Dr. Jasmine Constanzo has helped all members our family in numerous ways. My husband had knee pain so bad, he would ice it every night and we seriously thought he would need knee replacement surgery. After seeing Dr. Constanzo, we are no longer considering the surgery, he no longer needs to ice, and he is able to play basketball and go hiking. Each of our teen boys (16 and 13) has seen Dr. Constanzo for various problems over the years, from post broken shoulder rehab, to knee and foot pain, and back pain due to misalignments from basketball games. Our 6 year old daughter has seen Dr. Constanzo for a "tune up," as she had many falls as a younger child. As for myself, Dr. Constanzo has helped to loosen up my extremely tight back and helped with my digestive system. My upper back used to be so tight that many a masseuse would declare it was the tightest back they had ever dealt with! She convinced me to get orthotics to correct my flat feet and has helped me with my back and recurring neck pain. Our whole family appreciates Dr. Constanzo's professional, yet empathetic, kind manner and we highly recommend her.” —Victoria Bridge

"Jasmine is an incredible Osteopath who has a sound understanding of both western and eastern medicine and blends the two beautifully in her treatments.…" Paige Bourassa, Paige Acupuncture NYC

"Whenever I get a treatment, I can feel myself moving differently, more fluidly, with a better range of motion.…" —Adam Flynn, writer, researcher, and proud uncle

"Jasmine is always there to greet me with a nurturing hand and her work has helped me recover from more injuries I can count; in all the body parts from head to toes!…" —Jonathan Satava, Black Belt, Teacher at Marcelo Garcia Academy
